London England Rocks!!

LONDON, SONYA, MICKEY, & BRIGITTA AT ITS FINEST

THIS ONLY HAPPENS 500 TIMES A YEAR; APPARENTLY NOT VERY OFTEN :D

London England was the place of destination this past weekend and it was amazing. I was surrounding by good people and a great atmosphere. Sonya Brigitta (Brig) and I made our way to London on Saturday. We flew there ( so my first flight to another country within Europe) which was nice because it actually only took an hour to get there. Even better was we left 5pm on Saturday and arrived 5pm on Saturday. The week before London we all sat in my room and attempted to plan out our daily adventures. Man does London ever have a lot to do and see and so much history behind it. So we planned our day based on Saturday night until Monday night because we flew back home early Tuesday.... Of course just like everything else nothing went according to plan :)

When we first arrived in London even though arriving in time we did not fly into the city center and thus forth had to take a bus to get there. By the time we got on the bus and got to the center it was already dark out and we could not partake in any adventures that night. We had  not booked a hostel ahead of time and for this reason we had to walk the streets trying to find a place to stay. (MY RECOMMENDATION FOR ANYONE GOING TO LONDON BOOK AHEAD OF TIME) It was nearly impossible to find a place everywhere was full. Eventually luckily we found a hotel (quite in  nice closeness to the center station) that was vacant and could accommodate the three of us. 3 girls one small room.. yet again pulling this off backpacking European style, first sleep in cram and now cram into a room. The first night we had 2 single beds for 3 girls UH OH and the next night we were lucky to get a double and single. All in the the hotel was actually pretty good especially for what we needed it for.

We ended up walking around that night to get familiar with where we were and see London at night. Quite a beautiful city in a different way. What I am finding about Europe and the cities being traveled to is they are all a lot a like. Old buildings, churches, castles cobblestone although beautiful very similar and for this reason London was a very nice change. Not only old buildings with historical value but some new aspects to the city which you could feel comfortable with. As well there was just something about the atmosphere of London that just cannot be explained it was amazing.
Buckingham Palace at Night

We than has Sunday and Monday to pack into our days and man did we do a lot in those two days. We bough the London pass in order to get us into many attractions for free and it was defiantly worth it. We saw such items as
Big Ben- Parliamentary building--What an amazing building beautiful... Unfortunately you cannot go into this building so pictures from the outside it was.

We saw St Paul's Cathedral- Which is supposed to be such an amazing experience inside but unfortunately we sent on a Sunday so it was day of Mass and we could not enjoy all the special features of St Paul's

The Tower Bridge- An piece of the city. As you can see from the picture on top this is a bridge that opens to let boats through. We learned that apparently it only opens about 500 times a year which is not a lot and not a lot of people get to see this. WE DID !!
As well while on the bridge we got to walk through and learn some history about it.

Some other things we got to see and enjoy were
Westminster Abby- A church for praying and a graveyard (within) for all the dead kings and queens.. Gross right.. Well actually cool, we got to do an audio tour of the different tombs where the kings and queens were buried  We got to learn about how they died and why they are in the place they are  (MAN DOES LONDON'S MONARCH HAVE A LOT OF DRAMA IN THEIR HISTORY)
It was a cool experience because Canada's History is based on Britain and we have always heard about these kings and queens but to see them first hand (somewhat) where they lived and ruled and stories about them was a very neat feature. Unfortunately you cannot take pictures within so I don't have any to show you.
 The outside though is beautiful!

We got to do the London bridge experience so we learned about the second world war and got the be a part of it in a haunted experience
Probably the funniest thing of the whole trip; Sonya was soooooooo scared and was holding onto my from behind while Brig was scaring her even more. We than got followed by dead people in the tombs (reenactments) and she was almost in tears (I had quite the scratch marks in my neck) and than finally we got chased with a chain saw and she ran so fast Brig and I had to stop we were laughing so hard.

We walked all around the city and saw many things. One of the coolest views was defiantly the London eye; Its like a big Ferris wheel where you go up above and get a whole view of the city

Really there is so many good things about London I could go on forever, the trip was so amazing but the main highlights other than seeing and learning the history was defiantly
Being around English people- I always knew what was going on around me and what people were saying
The Food- They have north American food that tastes normal, burgers and fries, wraps and salads it was so nice and refreshing to know what to order for once and a while
The touristic stuffy; Right before we went to London while Brig was reading all about the culture Sonya and I decided to culture ourselves in our own way by watching SPICE GIRLS
Not only did we get excitement from that when actually going to London the major excitement came from seeing the exact same things. Riding a double Decker bus, seeing the red phone booths it was so GREAT

and last but not lest but probably one of my favourite parts was WE GOT TO SEE THE PLAY WICKED
It is my favourite Play and they have their own theater there. We knew we needed to kill some time on Monday and found out we got a discount with our pass so we decided to check out how much. When we got there we were informed if we waited about half an hour we could get front row seats for a cheap price
AND WE DID
We finished our adventure in London sitting front row to Wicked :D :D :D

All in all it was an amazing trip. The atmosphere around there is something unexplainable and anybody who gets a chance should make their way to this city.

SCHOOL
YAY THIS IS THE LAST WEEK

This week has gotten bad, Since its the last week before exams and break I am swamped. Papers and assignments galore need to be done especially since I am going to be away most of the break I need to get it done ahead of time.

Things are slowly starting to come together with classes (event management) which is nice and the stress will slowly start to come off

I am not getting ready to prepare for exams. The nice thing is I only have 2 so the preparation can be spread easily but the one thing I am having trouble with compared to University of Windsor is I have no idea what to expect. I have never written an exam here and I am in a whole new learning environment so I am a little worried it will not go as I hoped and considering I am a somewhat high achiever this frightens me. That being said I am going to study a lot and make sure I am well prepared to do the best that I can.

This is the last week of classes and I am so excited about that. From here next week we have a study break, than I have 2 exams the week after. From there after all that stress I head to Germany, Italy, and Greece... WOW what a hard life.

Another weird thing about school around here is people keep telling me after exams our schedule can change class times and days which is going be really weird because I am so used to constant and consistent that this random change will defiantly be an adjusting period.

News & Updates

I really don't have that much new since last week...

We are having an international Night this Friday where people from all over are making food for their countries; ever thought about what a Canadian food is? Cause I have no idea... I am making what Sonya calls death by chocolate, and she is making sloppy Joe's.. But I am very excited for this because I love trying new foods especially ones I didn't make or pay for

Going to Ireland this weekend :)

I have booked my flight home for Dec 16th.... Aren't you all excited to see me

Everything is coming along slowly but surely

That is all for today's Blog... Please let me know if there is anything I am missing and you ever want to read about :)

Until next week
